VoIP Telephony Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a skilled VoIP Telephony Engineer to join their innovative team, working remotely from Belfast . This role is essential for the design, deployment, and support of their Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of all voice communication services, supporting business operations across the organisation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with VoIP technologies and a proven ability to manage complex telephony systems, contributing significantly to their communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage VoIP systems, including PBX, SIP trunking, and UC platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
• Configure and maintain voice gateways, codecs, and call routing strategies.
• Work with vendors and internal teams to integrate voice services with other IT systems.
• Develop strategies for capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity for voice services.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in VoIP engineering or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, H.323, and RTP.
• Experience with leading VoIP platforms (e.g., Cisco Call Manager, Asterisk, Microsoft Teams Voice).
• Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, QoS) as they relate to voice traffic.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
