About the Role
Our client, a highly respected charity, is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized Volunteer Coordinator to join their dedicated team in Reading . This vital role involves recruiting, training, and supporting a diverse team of volunteers who are essential to the delivery of our client's services across Berkshire . You will be responsible for ensuring our volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience, matching their skills and interests to appropriate roles, and fostering a strong sense of community among them. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in enabling our client's mission by effectively managing their invaluable volunteer workforce and contributing to the wellbeing of the Reading community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective strategies for recruiting new volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Screen, interview, and onboard new volunteers, ensuring they receive appropriate training and induction.
- Manage the day-to-day coordination of volunteers, including scheduling, task allocation, and ongoing support.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
- Organize volunteer recognition events and initiatives to foster engagement and retention.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer involvement, hours, and training.
Requirements
- Previous experience in volunteer management , human resources, or a related people-focused role.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with volunteer management software is desirable.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a passion for empowering others.
