Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialist Water Resources Engineer to join their environmental consultancy in Glasgow . This role focuses on managing and protecting water resources, developing sustainable water management strategies, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will work on projects related to flood risk assessment, drainage design, water quality management, and sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS). Key Responsibilities

• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for rivers, floodplains, and urban drainage systems.
• Develop and implement strategies for water resource management, including abstraction licensing and drought management plans.
• Undertake flood risk assessments (FRAs) and develop mitigation measures.
• Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and urban water infrastructure.
• Advise clients and stakeholders on water quality issues, pollution control, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations related to water resource projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline with a specialization in water resources.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water resource management, flood risk assessment, or drainage design.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM).
• Strong knowledge of UK water legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
