Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer to join their specialist team based in Cambridge . This role focuses on the sustainable management and development of water resources, including flood risk assessment, drainage design, and water supply strategies. You will be involved in projects ranging from urban development to strategic infrastructure planning, contributing to solutions that address water challenges effectively and sustainably. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed hydraulic modeling and analysis for flood risk assessments and drainage systems.
• Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), including attenuation, infiltration, and green infrastructure solutions.
• Develop water resource management plans, considering supply, demand, and environmental factors.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and tender submissions related to water engineering.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies (e.g., Environment Agency), and other stakeholders on water-related matters.
• Provide technical expertise and input on water infrastructure projects throughout their lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources engineering, drainage design, or flood risk management.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as EPANET , InfoWorks WS Pro , or similar.
• Strong understanding of Surface Water Management Plans (SWMP) and Code for Sustainable Homes principles.
• Experience with GIS software for spatial analysis related to water resources.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
