Young People's Support Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Young People's Support Officer to provide guidance and support to young individuals in Brighton . This role focuses on empowering young people, particularly those facing challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, or social exclusion, to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their potential. You will work closely with young individuals to understand their needs, help them set achievable goals, and connect them with relevant resources and opportunities within the Brighton community. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about youth development and social inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to young people based on their individual needs.
• Assist young people in accessing education, training, employment, and housing opportunities.
• Develop and deliver engaging workshops and activities focused on life skills and personal development.
• Conduct needs assessments and develop personalised support plans.
• Liaise with external agencies, schools, and employers to create a supportive network.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service evaluation.

Requirements

• Experience working with young people, ideally in a support or mentoring capacity.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people today.
• Excellent communication, listening, and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young individuals.
• Knowledge of local youth services and support networks in Brighton .
• Relevant qualification (e.g., Youth Work, Social Work, NVQ Level 3) is advantageous.
