Youth Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking an energetic and committed Youth Support Worker to join their dedicated team in Portsmouth . This role focuses on providing guidance, support, and positive engagement for young people, particularly those facing challenges such as behavioral issues, educational difficulties, or unstable home environments. You will work with young people to help them develop essential life skills, build self-esteem, and achieve their potential, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

• Engage with young people in a positive and constructive manner, building trust and rapport.
• Provide practical and emotional support to help young people navigate challenges and make positive choices.
• Assist in the development and delivery of activities and programmes designed to promote personal, social, and educational development.
• Support young people in accessing education, training, or employment opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, progress, and any safeguarding concerns.
• Work in partnership with parents, guardians, schools, and other agencies to ensure a holistic approach to support.

Requirements

• Experience working with young people, preferably in a youth work or social care setting.
• A genuine desire to support and empower young people.
• Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and assertive in challenging situations.
• Willingness to undergo relevant training and background checks.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the needs of the young people.
