Job Description
1:1 Secondary Tutor - St Helens
Location: St Helens
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced 1:1 Secondary Tutor to provide personalised educational support to a learner in St Helens.
The successful tutor will be able to establish a positive rapport, work independently and tailor lessons to the learner's academic level, interests and individual targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 secondary tuition
- Plan structured sessions around learner targets
- Support development across core subjects
- Adapt resources and teaching methods
- Encourage positive engagement with learning
- Build confidence and independent study skills
- Monitor and report on progress
Requirements
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring secondary-aged learners
- Strong subject knowledge
- Experience delivering 1:1 support desirable
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Adaptable and learner-centred approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to Work in the UK
- Two professional child-related references
