About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Aircraft Performance Engineer to join their forward-thinking engineering department in Leeds . This role is essential for optimizing aircraft operational efficiency, fuel economy, and flight safety through rigorous analysis and modelling. You will work closely with flight operations and engineering teams to develop performance data, flight planning tools, and operational guidelines that enhance aircraft capabilities and reduce environmental impact. This position demands a strong foundation in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and computational fluid dynamics, applied within the context of real-world aviation operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and develop aircraft performance data, including take-off, climb, cruise, and landing performance.
- Create and refine flight planning software and tools to optimize routes for fuel efficiency and adherence to operational constraints.
- Conduct studies on aircraft systems to identify potential performance improvements and fuel-saving initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of environmental factors, aircraft configuration, and operational procedures on flight performance.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure all performance data and operational procedures meet safety and airworthiness standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to flight crews and operational planners on performance-related matters.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in aircraft performance analysis, flight mechanics, or related aerospace engineering disciplines.
- Strong proficiency in aerodynamic principles, thermodynamics, and flight dynamics modelling.
- Experience with performance calculation software and tools (e.g., Boeing, Airbus specific tools, or general CFD software).
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences in Leeds .
