About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Automation Electrical Engineer to join their manufacturing operations team in Sheffield . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated electrical control systems that optimize production efficiency and safety. You will work with cutting-edge technology, ensuring the seamless integration and reliable operation of machinery and process control equipment. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, HMI, and robotics, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions for operator control and system monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, identifying root causes of failures and implementing effective solutions.
- Specify and select electrical components, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation for automation projects.
- Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., Machinery Directive) and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to optimize automation processes and improve system reliability in Sheffield .
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in industrial automation, including PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI development.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring standards.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, and industrial networks.
- Familiarity with safety integrated systems and functional safety principles.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
