Automation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join their innovative manufacturing team based in Stoke-on-Trent . This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and processes to enhance production efficiency, reduce human error, and improve overall output. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commission automated manufacturing systems, including robotics, PLCs, and HMI systems.
• Program and troubleshoot industrial control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new automation projects.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, programming code, and user manuals.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations staff on automated systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in automation engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Experience with robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) and motion control.
• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and data acquisition systems.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
