Automotive CAD Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and technically proficient Automotive CAD Designer to join their innovative design studio in Derby . In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D designs for automotive components, interiors, and exteriors using industry-standard CAD software. You will work closely with engineers and product development teams to translate concepts into tangible designs, ensuring aesthetic appeal, functional performance, and manufacturability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop precise 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings for automotive components and systems using software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine designs, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Create detailed renderings and visualizations to present design concepts to stakeholders.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing design modifications.
• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, considering materials, production processes, and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate and organized design documentation and revisions.

Requirements

• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a CAD Designer , with a strong portfolio showcasing automotive design projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of automotive design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials science.
• Excellent visualization skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
