About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to contribute to their innovative product development team based in Derby . You will be involved in the design and development of new automotive components and systems, from concept generation through to production. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of automotive engineering principles. While much of the design work will be on-site, some flexibility for remote collaboration on specific projects may be available. You will work with cutting-edge CAD software and collaborate closely with manufacturing and testing departments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
Generate innovative design concepts and solutions for new vehicle features and improvements.
Conduct design analysis, simulations, and calculations to validate performance and manufacturability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, manufacturing, and testing, throughout the product lifecycle.
Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends in automotive design and engineering.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
Significant experience as an Automotive Design Engineer , with a strong portfolio of design work.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software and associated analysis tools.
Solid understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and vehicle dynamics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
