About the Role
Our client is seeking a creative and experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to contribute to their innovative product development team based in Derby . You will be involved in the design and development of new automotive components and systems, from concept generation through to production. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of automotive engineering principles. While much of the design work will be on-site, some flexibility for remote collaboration on specific projects may be available. You will work with cutting-edge CAD software and collaborate closely with manufacturing and testing departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
- Generate innovative design concepts and solutions for new vehicle features and improvements.
- Conduct design analysis, simulations, and calculations to validate performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, manufacturing, and testing, throughout the product lifecycle.
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends in automotive design and engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience as an Automotive Design Engineer , with a strong portfolio of design work.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and associated analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and vehicle dynamics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
