About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their advanced engineering team in Stoke-on-Trent . This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation internal combustion engines and hybrid propulsion systems. You will be involved in all phases of powertrain design, analysis, calibration, and testing, working to optimize performance, efficiency, and emissions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in thermodynamics and mechanical engineering, coupled with a passion for pushing the boundaries of automotive propulsion technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate powertrain components and systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Perform detailed thermodynamic analysis, combustion modeling, and performance simulations using industry-standard tools.
- Calibrate engine control units (ECUs) to meet performance targets, emissions regulations, and drivability requirements.
- Conduct dynamometer testing and vehicle testing, analyzing results to identify areas for improvement and validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the powertrain with other vehicle systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex powertrain-related issues throughout the development cycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive powertrain development .
- Proven experience with engine design, calibration tools, and dynamometer testing.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, combustion processes, and emissions control technologies.
- Proficiency in using simulation software (e.g., GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
