About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Powertrain Software Engineer to join their dedicated engineering team based in Leeds . This role is central to the development and optimization of sophisticated software controlling vehicle powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains. You will work on enhancing performance, efficiency, and emissions reduction through innovative software solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test software for engine control units (ECUs) and hybrid/electric vehicle power management systems.
- Implement and tune control algorithms to optimize powertrain performance , fuel efficiency, and emissions compliance.
- Collaborate with powertrain hardware engineers and vehicle integration teams to define software requirements and ensure seamless system operation.
- Utilize simulation tools and conduct on-vehicle testing to validate software functionality and performance under various operating conditions.
- Document software designs, test procedures, and results in accordance with company and industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development for automotive powertrains or related control systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming and experience with real-time embedded systems development.
- Familiarity with powertrain control strategies, sensor integration, and diagnostic protocols.
- Experience with model-based design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and embedded software testing methodologies is highly desirable.
