About the Role
Our client seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team in Leeds . This role is critical in the design, development, and testing of new automotive mechanical components and systems. You will leverage your deep understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and vehicle dynamics to drive innovation and improve product performance. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and systems for automotive applications, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Conduct theoretical analysis and simulations using FEA and CFD tools to predict component behaviour under various conditions.
- Oversee prototype development, build, and testing, analysing results and recommending design modifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible for mass production.
- Investigate and resolve design-related issues encountered during testing or production.
- Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and presentations for project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in automotive mechanical design and development.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and CAE tools (FEA, CFD).
- Strong knowledge of material properties, stress analysis, and mechanical systems integration.
- Experience with vehicle testing and validation processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
