About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Buyer and Category Manager to join their procurement team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This hybrid role involves managing specific spend categories, ensuring the acquisition of goods and services that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. You will play a key part in supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management, contributing to the overall efficiency of the supply chain. Key Responsibilities

• Manage designated procurement categories, developing category strategies to optimise sourcing and supplier performance.
• Conduct market analysis to identify new suppliers, innovative products, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Lead negotiation processes with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable terms, and robust service level agreements.
• Oversee contract lifecycle management, ensuring compliance and proactively addressing any issues.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure procurement activities align with business objectives.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans where necessary, fostering strong, productive supplier relationships.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Buyer or Category Manager role, with a strong understanding of procurement processes.
• Demonstrated success in negotiation and contract management within a complex procurement environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with suppliers and internal teams.
• Familiarity with e-procurement systems and best practices in category management.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
