About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer and Category Manager to join their established purchasing department based in Birmingham . You will be responsible for the strategic sourcing and day-to-day operational purchasing activities within your assigned areas, directly contributing to the company's profitability and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement lifecycle for assigned categories, from demand identification to delivery and payment.
- Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to identify best-value sourcing options.
- Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure continuity of supply.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a buying or category management role within purchasing.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven experience in managing supplier contracts.
- Excellent understanding of supply chain principles and procurement best practices.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and procurement software for managing purchase orders and supplier data.
- Ability to analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
