Buyer - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Buyer focused on indirect spend to join their procurement team in Edinburgh . This fully remote position involves managing the procurement of goods and services essential for the company's operational functions, such as IT equipment, office supplies, professional services, and facilities management. You will be responsible for identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. This role requires a strategic mindset and excellent supplier management skills, operating within a collaborative, remote-first environment that values efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for a diverse range of indirect spend categories.
• Identify and develop relationships with new suppliers, conducting due diligence and negotiating competitive terms and pricing.
• Analyse spending patterns and market trends within indirect categories to proactively identify savings opportunities.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure timely delivery of required goods and services.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or underperformance to maintain service quality.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role, with a significant focus on indirect spend.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and achieve cost savings.
• Strong understanding of contract management, risk assessment, and procurement best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in procurement software and MS Excel.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills suitable for a remote working environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
