About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and commercially astute Category Buyer to manage key purchasing categories within their FMCG operations in Nottingham . This role is essential for sourcing high-quality goods and services at competitive prices, ensuring the smooth flow of products to market. You will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. This is a critical role for a skilled buyer looking to make a significant impact within a leading FMCG organisation, contributing directly to profitability and supply chain efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies to optimize sourcing, cost, and supplier performance for assigned FMCG categories.
• Conduct market analysis and supplier research to identify the best sources of supply and potential cost savings.
• Negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve company objectives.
• Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, Marketing, and Operations, to understand product requirements and anticipate future needs.
• Monitor commodity markets and forecast price trends to inform purchasing decisions and mitigate risks.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Buyer or Senior Buyer, preferably within the FMCG sector.
• Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings.
• Excellent understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
