About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and strategic Category Buyer to join their procurement team, responsible for a key category within the FMCG sector in Nottingham . This role is critical for sourcing high-quality products, negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, and ensuring the availability of goods to meet consumer demand. You will play a key role in optimizing the supply chain and contributing to the overall profitability of the business. The ideal candidate possesses strong negotiation skills, a keen eye for market trends, and a deep understanding of procurement best practices within the fast-paced FMCG environment, operating from our Nottingham office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for designated FMCG categories to achieve cost, quality, and service objectives.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, building strong, long-term relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules to secure the best possible outcomes.
• Monitor market trends, raw material costs, and supplier performance to proactively manage risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including category managers and operations teams, to understand requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical sourcing standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, ideally within the FMCG industry.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Proficiency in procurement systems and contract management.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain dynamics and market intelligence.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
