About the Role
Our client is seeking an astute and commercially minded Category Buyer to join their procurement team, operating with a hybrid work model. This critical role will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a specific range of products within the FMCG category, ensuring competitive pricing, high quality, and reliable supply. You will play a key part in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives that support the company's financial objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional to manage key categories in a fast-paced consumer goods environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end sourcing and procurement process for assigned FMCG categories .
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiating favourable terms, pricing, and contracts.
- Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., sales, marketing, operations) to understand product needs and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure supply chain resilience.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and identify opportunities for improvement or cost reduction.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Category Manager, preferably within the FMCG sector or a related industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of procurement best practices.
- Excellent analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and analyze cost data.
- Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively within a hybrid team , balancing office-based meetings with remote analysis.
