About the Role
Our client seeks an experienced Category Buyer to manage indirect spend categories for their operations in Plymouth . This role is essential for ensuring that all non-production related goods and services are procured efficiently and cost-effectively, supporting the wider business objectives. You will be responsible for developing category strategies, managing supplier performance, and driving value through negotiation and supplier relationship management. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas such as facilities, IT, marketing, and professional services.
- Conduct sourcing events, including RFIs, RFPs, and tender processes, to identify and select optimal suppliers.
- Negotiate favourable contract terms, pricing, and service level agreements with suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and conduct regular business reviews.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement activities accordingly.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation within assigned categories.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Category Buyer or in a strategic procurement role focused on indirect spend.
- Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated success in managing complex contracts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a good understanding of market dynamics.
- Experience with procurement systems and e-sourcing platforms.
- Ability to build effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Relevant degree or CIPS qualification is advantageous.
