About the Role
Our client, a significant player in the FMCG industry , is seeking an analytical and strategic Category Development Manager to join their team in Edinburgh . This hybrid role allows for flexibility, combining office-based collaboration with remote work. You will be pivotal in driving category growth and profitability by leveraging data-driven insights to develop innovative strategies. This position requires a strong understanding of consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and retailer relationships, ensuring our client's products are optimally positioned to capture market share and meet evolving consumer demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term category strategies that align with business objectives and consumer needs.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of market data, sales performance, and shopper insights to identify growth opportunities.
- Manage product assortments, pricing strategies, and promotional planning for the assigned categories.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure effective execution of category initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners to influence category strategy and performance.
- Present category reviews and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and retail partners.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management , brand management, or a related analytical role within FMCG.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI).
- Proven ability to develop and execute effective category strategies.
- Excellent understanding of the UK retail landscape and shopper behaviour.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
