About the Role
Our client, a distinguished organisation within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Development Manager to join their team in Cambridge . This role is pivotal in driving category growth through insightful analysis, strategic planning, and effective collaboration with both internal sales and marketing teams, as well as external retail partners. You will be responsible for understanding market dynamics, shopper behaviour, and competitive landscapes to develop initiatives that enhance product placement, promotions, and overall category performance. This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially driven individual to influence the success of key product categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category growth strategies based on in-depth analysis of market data, consumer insights, and shopper behaviour.
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to present category strategies and recommendations to retail partners.
- Work with brand marketing teams to ensure alignment of category initiatives with brand strategies and plans.
- Analyse the performance of promotional activities and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Identify opportunities for new product introductions and assortment optimization within the category.
- Develop compelling business cases for new initiatives and present them to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in category management, brand management, or trade marketing, ideally within the FMCG industry.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis and presentation tools.
- Excellent understanding of retail and shopper marketing principles.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at various levels.
- Experience in developing strategic plans and business cases.
