About the Role
Our client, a leading organisation in the FMCG sector , is seeking a data-driven and insightful Category Planner to join their team in Cambridge . This role is instrumental in ensuring optimal product assortment, availability, and promotional planning across various retail channels to maximize sales and profitability for specific product categories. You will leverage sales data, market insights, and consumer trends to develop effective category plans that meet both retailer and consumer needs. This position requires a blend of analytical prowess and strategic thinking to navigate the fast-paced FMCG market and contribute to the success of our client's brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to inform category strategies.
- Develop and implement effective category plans, including assortment optimization, pricing strategies, and promotional calendars.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) to ensure alignment and successful execution of category plans.
- Manage relationships with retail partners to understand their needs and opportunities for category growth.
- Monitor category performance, identify key insights, and recommend actions for improvement.
- Ensure adequate stock levels and forecast demand for key products within the category.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in category planning, category management, or a similar analytical role within the FMCG industry .
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Nielsen/IRI data).
- Excellent understanding of retail dynamics and the FMCG market .
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Experience working in a hybrid office environment.
