Chemical Engineer - R&D and Scale-Up

About the Role

Our client is searching for an innovative Chemical Engineer specializing in R&D and Scale-Up to join their advanced research facility in Cambridge . This role is integral to bridging the gap between laboratory discovery and commercial production, focusing on developing and validating new chemical processes. You will work with a team of scientists and engineers to translate novel concepts into robust, scalable, and safe manufacturing methods. The ideal candidate will be passionate about innovation and possess strong practical engineering skills to drive projects from initial concept through to pilot plant trials.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test new chemical processes in laboratory and pilot plant settings.
• Oversee the scale-up of chemical processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reproducibility.
• Conduct feasibility studies and techno-economic assessments for new process technologies.
• Collaborate closely with R&D chemists and engineers to optimize reaction conditions and purification methods.
• Prepare detailed process descriptions, P&IDs, and hazard analyses for new processes.
• Troubleshoot issues encountered during scale-up and provide technical support for process validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• 3-5 years of experience in chemical R&D, process development, or scale-up.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and laboratory equipment.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and separation technologies.
• Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and safety protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
