About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative Chemical Engineer to join their esteemed Research and Development department in Cambridge . This role focuses on the discovery and development of novel chemical processes and products, involving laboratory-scale experimentation, process modelling, and pilot plant trials. You will contribute to cutting-edge projects, working collaboratively with a team of scientists and engineers to bring new technologies from concept to commercialisation. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental research and development to explore new chemical processes and applications.
• Develop and optimise chemical synthesis routes and reaction conditions.
• Utilise process simulation and modelling tools to predict and improve process performance.
• Design and execute pilot-scale trials, analysing results to inform scale-up strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing.
• Prepare technical reports, patents, and research publications.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Chemistry with process experience).
• Proven experience in R&D, process development, or scale-up.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent laboratory skills and a commitment to safety.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking, ideal for a hybrid role supporting both lab and remote analysis.
