About the Role
Our client seeks a meticulous Chemical Engineer with a strong focus on Safety and Compliance to join their team in Reading . This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and operations meet rigorous industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for conducting safety assessments, developing risk mitigation strategies, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of chemical safety principles and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments for new and existing operations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, such as COMAH, REACH, and environmental permits.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice on process safety, occupational health, and environmental protection.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to operational staff.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
- Proven experience in process safety management (PSM) and regulatory compliance within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with UK and international safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulations into practical solutions.
- Strong communication and training skills.
