About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their team in Reading . This role is central to the design and development of new chemical plants and process modifications, ensuring they meet stringent safety, environmental, and operational requirements. You will be responsible for creating detailed process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, working collaboratively with project managers and other engineering disciplines. Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual and detailed process designs for chemical manufacturing facilities.
- Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets.
- Conduct process simulations and calculations to ensure design integrity and efficiency.
- Perform mass and energy balances, and sizing of process equipment.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams during project execution phases.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in process design engineering.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Chemcad).
- Familiarity with HAZOP analysis and safety design principles.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals and unit operations.
- Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills.
