About the Role
Our client seeks a dedicated and results-oriented Chemical Plant Manager to oversee operations at their key facility in Birmingham . This leadership role is critical for ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant production of chemicals. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance, while fostering a positive and productive work environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned manager to leverage their expertise in chemical manufacturing and lead a team towards operational excellence in the West Midlands .
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day plant operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee maintenance schedules and activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality control standards.
- Develop and manage the plant's operational budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the plant's operational staff, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with supply chain and logistics to ensure efficient raw material procurement and finished product distribution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical plant operations, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Proven track record in managing plant budgets, production schedules, and safety programs.
- Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, regulatory compliance (e.g., COMAH), and quality management systems.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a hybrid work model, balancing site-based responsibilities with potential remote administrative tasks.
