Civil Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Civil Design Engineer for a key contract role based in Cardiff . This position focuses on developing innovative and practical design solutions for a variety of infrastructure and development projects across Wales. You will be an integral part of the design team, responsible for producing detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil engineering designs, including site layout, drainage, earthworks, and highway elements.
• Produce accurate calculations and technical reports to support design proposals.
• Utilise CAD software to create and amend engineering drawings and plans.
• Liaise with project managers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design solutions.
• Assist in the preparation of technical specifications and contract documentation.
• Conduct site visits as required to support the design and construction phases.

Requirements

• Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in civil engineering design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
• Good understanding of relevant UK design standards and Building Regulations.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
