About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized Civil Engineer with a focus on drainage and flood risk to join their busy team in Brighton . This role is crucial for designing and implementing effective surface water management strategies for a variety of development projects. You will be responsible for detailed hydrological and hydraulic design, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in drainage design and a commitment to sustainable water management solutions within the East Sussex area.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed design of surface water and foul water drainage systems, including SUDs (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems).
- Perform hydraulic calculations, flood risk assessments, and prepare relevant reports.
- Liaise with statutory authorities, such as Lead Local Flood Authorities and the Environment Agency, to secure approvals.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate drainage designs seamlessly into wider project plans.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and drawings related to drainage infrastructure.
- Provide technical advice and support on drainage matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related environmental discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with a strong emphasis on drainage design and flood risk assessment.
- Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM) and AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of relevant UK legislation and design standards (e.g., Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA guidance).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to water management.
- Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
