About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with expertise in Geotechnical engineering to join their dedicated team in Plymouth . This role is central to assessing ground conditions and designing foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures for a wide array of civil engineering projects. You will conduct site investigations, perform complex geotechnical analyses, and provide recommendations to ensure the stability and safety of structures. This is a key position for an engineer passionate about the ground beneath our infrastructure and committed to delivering robust, technically sound solutions within a region renowned for its diverse geological challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute site investigations, including soil sampling and laboratory testing.
- Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and tunnels.
- Develop detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for design and construction.
- Prepare foundation and earthworks designs in accordance with industry standards.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, overseeing geotechnical aspects.
- Liaise with clients and other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions effectively.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or similar.
- Understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
- Experience with foundation design, slope stability analysis, and ground improvement techniques.
- Ability to interpret site investigation data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
