About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Remote Civil Engineer with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering to join their expanding remote team, operating initially from the Birmingham area but with fully remote working arrangements. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for assessing soil conditions, designing foundations, and providing geotechnical solutions for a diverse range of construction projects nationwide. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geotechnical site investigations and interpret subsurface data.
- Design and specify foundation systems, retaining walls, and slope stability measures.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to provide expert geotechnical advice.
- Utilize advanced geotechnical software for analysis and modelling.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Health & Safety regulations.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE).
- Proficiency in geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar.
- Strong understanding of ground improvement techniques and seismic design principles.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
