Community Support Officer

About the Role

Our client seeks a proactive and organized Community Support Officer to join their dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is pivotal in delivering essential services and support to individuals and families within the local community, ensuring they have access to resources and guidance. You will work collaboratively with various agencies and community groups to enhance social well-being and address complex needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community development and possess strong problem-solving skills, contributing to a positive and supportive local infrastructure in the Tyne and Wear region.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support to community members facing social challenges, connecting them with relevant services and resources.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify individual and family requirements and develop tailored support plans.
• Liaise with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders to coordinate services and ensure seamless support delivery.
• Organise and facilitate community outreach programmes and events to promote social inclusion and engagement.
• Maintain accurate case records, ensuring data is up-to-date and compliant with organisational policies.
• Advocate on behalf of service users to ensure their needs are met and their rights are upheld.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a community support , social work, or related field.
• Strong understanding of social welfare systems, local authority services, and third-sector organisations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively and prioritise tasks efficiently.
• Proficiency in using IT systems for record-keeping and communication.
• A relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, or a related discipline is preferred.
