Control Systems Engineer - Chemical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer with a background in the chemical industry to join their operations team in Leeds . This role is critical for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of our automated chemical processing plants. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced control systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically adept engineer to contribute to operational excellence and process optimization in a significant industrial facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for chemical processes.
• Develop and maintain SCADA systems for process monitoring, data acquisition, and operator interfaces.
• Implement advanced control strategies to optimize process performance, energy efficiency, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system hardware and software issues, minimizing plant downtime.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operators to ensure control systems meet operational needs and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of control system configurations, logic, and network architecture.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems for industrial processes, preferably in the chemical sector .
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
• Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation , networking, and cybersecurity principles.
• Experience with alarm management and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
