About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and technically adept Cyber Security Operations Analyst to join their dedicated security operations centre (SOC) based in Manchester . In this crucial role, you will be at the forefront of detecting, analysing, and responding to security threats in real-time. You will work with cutting-edge security technologies to monitor network activity, identify malicious behaviour, and contribute to the overall security posture of the organisation. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts from various tools, including SIEM , IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection systems, to identify potential security incidents.
- Perform initial analysis and triage of security events, determining the severity and potential impact.
- Investigate security incidents, collecting forensic data and documenting findings according to established procedures.
- Assist in the development and refinement of security monitoring use cases and detection rules.
- Collaborate with incident response teams to ensure effective remediation of identified threats.
- Contribute to threat intelligence gathering and analysis to proactively identify emerging risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common security threats.
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools such as SIEM platforms and IDS/IPS.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and communicate findings clearly.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CEH are a plus for this role in Manchester .
