About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Data Protection Lawyer to join their expanding legal team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations that have a significant presence in Leeds . This role is critical for ensuring the company's adherence to all data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and UK Data Protection Act. You will be responsible for advising on data processing activities, developing compliance strategies, and managing data breach incidents. The ideal candidate will have a deep and current understanding of data privacy law and a proactive approach to implementing robust data protection frameworks across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of data protection and privacy law, including GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data protection policies and procedures.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on data processing agreements.
- Manage and respond to data subject rights requests and regulatory inquiries.
- Assist in the investigation and management of data breaches, including notification procedures.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with demonstrable expertise in data protection and privacy law.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in a relevant field.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other relevant privacy regulations.
- Experience in advising on cross-border data transfers and international privacy laws.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
