About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Real Estate Development to lead their remote-first development initiatives across the UK. This senior leadership position involves identifying new development opportunities, managing the entire project lifecycle from conception to completion, and ensuring projects meet strategic, financial, and operational objectives. You will collaborate with a dispersed team of professionals, including architects, engineers, legal counsel, and construction managers, guiding them remotely to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and profitable developments. This is a critical role for an accomplished leader who thrives in a remote environment and has a proven track record in large-scale property development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new land acquisition and development opportunities aligned with the company's strategic goals.
- Oversee all phases of the development process, including feasibility studies, planning applications, design development, and construction management.
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, planning departments, joint venture partners, and key stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a remote team of development professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Manage risk effectively throughout the development cycle, implementing mitigation strategies where necessary.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in real estate development , with a significant portfolio of successfully completed projects.
- Proven track record in land acquisition, planning negotiation, and construction oversight.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in development budgeting, financing, and profitability analysis.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, adept at remote team leadership.
- Deep understanding of UK planning regulations, construction methods, and contract management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field; professional qualifications are highly valued.
