About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operational team based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations by managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems. You will work closely with drilling crews and geologists on-site and remotely to address fluid-related challenges and maintain optimal drilling performance. This is a hands-on position within the exciting and demanding Oil & Gas sector , offering a blend of field and office-based responsibilities in the heart of the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Monitor fluid properties on-site and in the lab, ensuring they meet operational specifications.
• Troubleshoot drilling fluid problems, such as lost circulation, wellbore instability, and formation damage.
• Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
• Prepare daily and end-of-well fluid reports.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in drilling fluid engineering.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, additives, and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations pertinent to drilling operations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.
