About the Role
Our client is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy Trading Analyst to join their bustling trading floor in Bristol . This role is integral to supporting the company's energy trading operations by providing critical market analysis, data insights, and forecasting. You will work closely with traders and risk managers to identify profitable opportunities, assess market trends, and optimize trading strategies in volatile energy markets. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze energy market data (e.g., price, supply, demand, weather) to identify trends and potential trading opportunities.
- Develop and maintain quantitative models for forecasting energy prices and market movements.
- Provide timely and accurate market reports and insights to the trading desk and senior management.
- Monitor wholesale energy markets, including power, gas, and related commodities.
- Assist in risk management activities, including position monitoring and exposure analysis.
- Support the development and implementation of new trading strategies and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2-4 years of experience in an analytical role within the energy trading , commodity markets, or financial services industry.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proven ability to work with large datasets.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel (advanced), Python, R, or SQL.
- Excellent understanding of energy markets , including fundamentals and trading mechanisms.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
