About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join their team, supporting mining operations across the UK from a remote work setting, with occasional travel to sites as needed. This role is vital for ensuring that all mining activities comply with environmental legislation and company sustainability goals. You will play a key part in monitoring environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and managing regulatory reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new and existing mining projects.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans for mine sites.
- Monitor water quality, air emissions, noise levels, and biodiversity around mining operations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental permits and regulations.
- Prepare environmental reports for regulatory agencies and internal management.
- Advise on best practices for waste management, land reclamation, and pollution control.
- Respond to and manage environmental incidents and emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related environmental field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to mining.
- Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Proficiency in GIS software for spatial analysis and mapping of environmental data.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
