About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Data Scientist to join their dynamic team, focusing on advanced analytics within the mining sector, all within a fully remote setup. You will leverage large datasets from exploration, operations, and logistics to uncover insights, optimize processes, and drive data-informed decision-making. This role is crucial for enhancing efficiency, predicting geological outcomes, and improving safety across various mining operations. You will work with cutting-edge machine learning techniques and big data platforms, collaborating with geologists, engineers, and operations managers globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy machine learning models for predictive maintenance , ore grade estimation, and operational optimization.
- Analyze complex datasets from sensors, operational logs, and geological surveys to identify trends and anomalies.
- Design and implement data visualization dashboards to communicate key findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and project scope.
- Clean, process, and transform raw data into usable formats for analysis and modeling.
- Stay current with advancements in data science, AI, and their applications in the mining industry .
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with proven experience in Python or R.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, data wrangling, and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Demonstrable experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
