About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join their team in Brighton , focusing on sustainable practices within the mining sector. This role is crucial for ensuring that all mining operations comply with environmental regulations and minimize ecological impact. You will conduct environmental assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor environmental performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about conservation and has a strong understanding of environmental legislation relevant to extractive industries, contributing to responsible resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for mining projects.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs).
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality at mining sites.
- Ensure compliance with national and international environmental regulations.
- Advise on best practices for waste management, rehabilitation, and biodiversity protection.
- Prepare environmental reports and present findings to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in the mining or resources sector.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
