About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist specializing in the mining sector to join their team in Brighton . This role is critical for ensuring that all mining operations comply with environmental regulations and adhere to sustainable practices. You will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and monitoring ecological conditions around mining sites. Your expertise will help minimize the environmental footprint of our client's projects, contributing to responsible resource extraction in the region and beyond. This position involves a mix of field work and office-based analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and monitoring programs.
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality at mining sites, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Advise on best practices for waste management, land rehabilitation, and biodiversity conservation.
- Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and local communities on environmental matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental assessment and management, preferably within the mining or resource industries .
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and project management skills.
- Willingness to undertake site visits and work in a hybrid capacity from our Brighton office.
