About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Farm Manager to oversee their dairy operations based near Belfast, Northern Ireland . This comprehensive role involves managing all aspects of the dairy farm, including herd health, milk production, staff supervision, financial management, and adherence to regulatory standards. You will be responsible for ensuring the farm runs efficiently, profitably, and sustainably, maintaining high standards of animal welfare and productivity. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone passionate about dairy farming and experienced in modern agricultural management techniques, working directly on the farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the dairy herd, focusing on optimizing milk yield, quality, and animal health.
- Supervise and train farm staff, ensuring effective task allocation and performance management.
- Oversee feed management, breeding programs, and veterinary care for the herd.
- Develop and manage the farm's budget, controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and animal welfare legislation.
- Maintain and improve farm infrastructure, equipment, and land management practices.
Requirements
- Significant experience in dairy farm management, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong knowledge of dairy cow nutrition, reproduction, health, and welfare.
- Experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
- Understanding of farm financial management and business planning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency with modern farm management software and technologies.
