Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead their finance function in Leeds . This senior position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial operations, reporting, and compliance. You will be responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, managing the finance team, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving financial performance, implementing strong internal controls, and contributing to the overall strategic goals of the business. This is a critical leadership role within the organization, offering significant responsibility and impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and GAAP.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
• Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses, providing strategic financial insights to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and tax requirements.

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
• Significant experience in a financial control or senior accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing or complex operational environment.
• Deep understanding of financial accounting standards, internal controls, and risk management.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team.
• Strong knowledge of financial systems and ERP software.
