Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly qualified and experienced Financial Controller to lead their finance department in Edinburgh . This senior role is responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintain robust internal controls, and provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of accounting principles (IFRS/UK GAAP), a solid understanding of the banking and finance sector , and the leadership skills required to manage a finance team effectively within the firm's Edinburgh headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
• Manage treasury functions, including cash flow management and banking relationships.
• Provide strategic financial advice and support to the executive management team.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles, preferably within the financial services industry .
• Extensive knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and ERP software.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and meet demanding deadlines.
