Our client is seeking a proactive and results-oriented Fleet Operations Manager to lead their transportation division based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves managing a diverse fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest safety standards. You will play a key role in strategic planning for fleet expansion and optimization, collaborating with various departments to achieve company objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the company's fleet, including maintenance scheduling, dispatch, and driver management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all national and international transportation regulations, including VOSA and DVSA standards.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers, service providers, and maintenance partners.
- Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks.
- Lead and mentor the fleet operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Significant experience in fleet management , logistics, or a related field, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large vehicle fleets, including maintenance, repair, and compliance aspects.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations , safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with fleet management software and other relevant IT systems.
