FMCG Product Development Technologist

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a skilled and creative Product Development Technologist to join their dedicated R&D team in Reading . This role is central to the creation and refinement of new and existing consumer products , ensuring they meet quality, safety, and consumer appeal standards. You will be involved in all stages of product development, from concept to launch, working in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation. This hybrid position balances essential laboratory work with cross-functional team meetings and strategic planning, supporting product evolution within the Berkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new FMCG products from concept through to launch, ensuring they meet technical and commercial objectives.
• Conduct laboratory work, including formulation, testing, and sensory evaluation of products.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with marketing, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product commercialization.
• Investigate and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Prepare product specifications, technical documentation, and trial reports.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development , ideally within the FMCG or food industry .
• Strong understanding of food chemistry, formulation, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent laboratory skills and experience with analytical and sensory techniques.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC).
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, with on-site presence in Reading required.
